The Prayer of Faith Will Heal | Healing Meditation

This morning, while speaking with my wife, I suddenly had an overwhelming desire to speak with an old friend. Immediately, these words came from my mouth.

“We have not talked to [name withheld]. I am going to call her.”

I immediately located WhatsApp messages and dialed the number. Months had passed since we last spoke. We were just too busy. Occasionally, text messages were sent. Yet it felt empty. Texting just wasn’t as satisfying for an old soul like me. Far too brief, impersonal, and hard to read the tone and intent conveyed by spoken words.

My heart leapt for joy when my ‘sister from another Mister (our Heavenly Father)’ answered. During the conversation, I discovered that my call wasn’t a mere coincidence. The Holy Spirit had moved me to call her (Matthew 4:1; Mark 1:12; Ezekiel 37:1; Ezekiel 3:14). I was on a mission. She was laid up in bed. Excruciating pain wracked her body. The doctors had done a very thorough examination to determine the reason for the pain. Scan after scan revealed nothing. They could not understand why she was experiencing the crippling pain. So they gave her medication and ordered bed rest.

“I will pray for you. Jesus will heal you.” I advised. There wasn’t a microsecond of doubt in my heart or mind. I was resolved that once the prayer of faith was done, Jesus would heal her. The fact that she lived more than a hundred miles away. That did not matter. We were communicating by telephone. That did not matter. I never doubted that she would be healed.

I knew the Kingdom of God was not limited by time and space. The Kingdom of God did not need physical contact to be activated. Faith would release the healing. We were assured that the prayer of faith would raise the sick from the bed of affliction.

James 5:15, Amplified Classic Bible

And the prayer [that is] of faith will save him who is sick, and the Lord will restore him; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

The power of God simply needed the word to be spoken in faith.

Psalm 107:20

He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction.

My heart began to rejoice. In my heart, I began to thank God for what He had done. I could see her healed. No word was spoken. Yet I saw her healed. My joy overflowed in a prayer of thanksgiving for what God had done. For His provision of healing by the Lord Jesus’s sacrifice (1 Peter 2:23-24). I wasn’t trying to convince her that He would heal. I was not begging Jesus to heal her. Neither was I going through a formula to produce healing. My faith was anchored in the reality that Christ Jesus has already provided healing through the atonement on the cross. I began to see, by faith, that she was healed.

Hebrews 11:1, AMPC

Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, [a]the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

“Pain! Leave that body right now!” I commanded. My voice was calm and full of authority.

Mark 16:15-18

15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

“Spirit of infirmity,” A calm inner voice informed me.

“Thank you, Holy Spirit,” I responded using my inner voice. The Holy Spirit had revealed the reason for the pain. Victory was won. My heart leaped for joy.

“Spirit of infirmity, leave her body. Go now!” I commanded. My voice raised just slightly.

“Get up. Do what you have been unable to do. Twist yourself. Move your body. Do things you would normally do if there were no pain. Move as if you are already healed. As you begin to move, the healing will flow.”

There was no response, only brief silence followed by shuffling sounds. I knew that meant she had raised herself from the bed. Another two minutes or more of silence followed as I waited patiently.

“What is your pain level? On a scale of 1 to 10, what is it?”

“From the pain started, out of 1 to 10, it was an 11 or 12”, she responded. “Now it is about a 2 or 3.”

“Awesome! We are not going to settle for that! Even a slight pain is not enough. We want complete healing. We are not going to leave any room for the Devil to operate or come back at you.” I calmly assured her.

“Spirit of Infirmity, leave that body. GO NOW!” My voice rose just a little higher as I commanded the spirit to leave.

“What is the pain level?”

“It is completely gone!” Her joy and relief were evident.

The well of our joy gushed over. We glorified God! He is great! Our Heavenly Father is good! There is no one like Him. Christ Jesus, Our Risen King, Our Lord and Savior, is real. Jesus is the same now and forever (Hebrews 13:8). JESUS IS OUR HEALER. THAT IS TRUTH. Nothing can erase it. Time cannot erase that truth. Society and culture cannot erase it. No demon can change it. Now and FOREVER, Jesus is our healer!
