Famine and the Sword | Prophecy

God has shown me many visions and dreams of things to come while I was growing up. In my teens, I began to pay attention to some of them. Sometimes He spoke directly to me while I slept but I never quite understood what they meant until I made a total surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ earlier this year. God was gracious to reveal Himself in a mighty way, as I sought to know Him more through prayer, fasting, and constant meditation of the Word.

As I sought Him He began speaking to me in dreams and visions. Every night He has been gracious to give me multiple dreams. Praise His wonderful name, He has not left me in a state of bewilderment or confusion. Every time I ask for understanding of what has been shown He has given me understanding.

This dream that I am about to share was received on the night of Saturday, December 10, 2011. I must admit that it troubled me. I was uneasy about what God had shown me. As I sought him for understanding and guidance. He graciously answered. Then He told me to share the dream with you.

Locusts Attack

While sleeping I dreamt I was living in a village. All the villagers lived in similar huts. They resembled some huts you would see in movies or documentaries showcasing an ancient African village. The huts were composed of straw, wood posts, and thatch roofs.

The villagers looked healthy and well-fed. They were all farmers who grew numerous crops on various plots of land. Each farmer diligently tended the crops. Their hard work paid off. God blessed their labor. All crops yielded an abundant harvest.

Each villager lived in harmony. They were a very happy lot. I sensed great camaraderie with them. I also knew that they lived as a community. Everyone looked out for their neighbor.

While the villagers were reaping their crops, the sky blackened. It was not gathering rain clouds. No! No! A huge swarm of locusts had suddenly appeared. Within seconds the swarm descended on the crops. They worked quickly to consume everything. When they finished there was not even one leaf or a stalk of corn left. These lean, mean, eating machines were extremely thorough.

I and the villagers attempted to chase the locust away. Unfortunately, our efforts were futile. There were far too many of them.

With nothing to eat people started starving. We had to quickly donate food to the hungry.

Interpretation

After the dream was received I wrote it down and didn’t think much more about it.

God was not about to let me ignore the dream. While attending Sunday Night Service at church eight days later, I got lost in worship. The Holy Spirit moved me to worship from the depths of my soul. During this time God instructed me to publish the dream.

I still was hesitant about publishing the dream. I know I can be a bit overly cautious. Thankfully my Abba, Father, understands me. During devotion the next morning, as I asked Him to give me an understanding of the dream He gave me Jeremiah 14.
