Seven Sins That Will Cause the Downfall of America

I have had a burden in my spirit since Saturday, September 29, 2018, after watching a video posted by Jennifer LeClaire. The video contained a prophetic warning by Lester Sumrall about things that would occur in the United States of America. What saddens me is that he outlined seven things that would befall the USA. These seven things would cause the nation to do what Israel did in departing from Yahweh, the Lord their God.

These are the sins of the nation that God told him in the 1950s, while he was a missionary in Manila, Philippines. 

  1. America will depart from its historic faith.
  2. America will endorse pagan religions. Just like the children of Israel turned to the worship of the gods of other nations. So will the USA turn from its God. There will be a tremendous rise of Islamic worship in the nation.
  3. America will endorse the doctrines of devils (1 Timothy 4:1). People will turn from the simplicity of the faith. Apostate doctrines will invade the church.
  4. They will worship Satan. People will engage in rituals and human sacrifices.
  5. A spirit of rebellion will disrupt the social structure of the nation. Rebellion and anarchy will be among the youth. They will protest in the streets. Wives will rebel against their husbands and will leave the home. Husbands will leave their wives and family. People will live a gay lifestyle that is free from restraints.
  6. America will have a tremendous change in its morals. Homosexuality will become acceptable (Romans 1:25). Gays will march openly on the streets. Children will be encouraged to have sex. Condoms will be given to students in school.
  7. Bestiality will become similar to homosexuality. People will burn with unnatural carnal desire for animals. 

Leviticus 20:15-16

If a man mates with an animal, he shall surely be put to death, and you shall kill the animal.

Ray of Hope

At the time when Dr. Lester Sumrall received this prophecy the possibility of them being fulfilled seemed far-fetched. Sadly most of these prophecies have been fulfilled. Scripture has consistently shown that every time the people turned from Yahweh to worship the gods of the other nations and follow the customs of the pagan nations they were oppressed by their enemies. If they did not repent and turn back to Yahweh they would eventually be sieged and carried into captivity.

We may not think that the defeat and overthrow of the United States is possible. The nation has enjoyed a prolonged period of peace. Its military defenses are the very best in the entire world. No nation can match its sophisticated intelligence systems and stockpile of armories. All these have lulled us into a false sense of security. Trust in the arm of man has led us to believe that the United States’ military power is sufficient to save it from being besieged by its enemies. Do not be fooled. Throughout history, empires rise and empires fall. No nation reigns supreme forever.

Scripture consistently shows us that every time a nation turns from its God He raises up prophets to warn them. The warning is not meant to condemn but to stir the conscience of the people and provide a ray of hope. An opportunity for redemption. Once Israel abandoned Baal and Ashtoreth’s worship and the worship of other strange gods, and returned to their God He saved them from their enemy (see Psalm 106:34-48 below).

Although Dr Sumrall’s warnings of the decadence that will descend on the nation were grim there is hope. God promised that he would pour out His spirit on the nation (Joel 2:28-32). Amid gross darkness, many souls will be saved. The greatest revival will occur in the nation.

Partner with the Lord

You may be saying to yourself “Our nation shall not fall!” Please ask yourself this question. How many of these deadly sins outlined in the prophecy are present in the nation? You cannot remain a bystander as the nation perishes.

God has given all saints the power to shift a nation from destruction. The power was not only given to the five-fold ministry. He gave power and authority to all his children. That is everyone who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ. Cry out to God with a sincere heart for the salvation of the people.

Mark 11:23-24

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

1 Timothy 2:8

I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. 

Abraham prayed for Sodom and Gomorrah when the Lord revealed their imminent destruction (Genesis 18:16-33). Moses prayed for the people when God threatened to destroy them in the wilderness (see Deuteronomy 9:13-14; Exodus 32:12-14). Elijah prayed for the hearts of the people to be turned to the Living God and in so doing challenged the prophets of Baal and the false prophets in the nation (1 Kings 18). Our Lord Jesus Christ prayed for the salvation of all believers, offered himself as a living sacrifice for our atonement for our sins, and commissioned us to evangelize the world (John 17:20-23, Mark 16:15-18, Matthew 28:18-20). So that whoever believes in Him and confess Him as Lord and Savior may be saved (Romans 10:8-10).

1 Kings 18:36-37

36 And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. 37 Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.”

Please think about the people around you. Your salvation may be secure but think about others. It is not the desire of God that anyone be destroyed. You are called to evangelize the sick and dying world.

The success of evangelism hinges on prayer. You must intercede for the people. Pray that the Lord of the harvest will send laborers in the field. America and the world must be turned back to God. Those who do not know him and have never heard of Him must be awakened to the truth that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. They must know that salvation is through Jesus ONLY. There is no other way.

Please commit to continuous prayer for our leaders at all levels of society, neighbors, and other nations. Please commit to a lifestyle of prayer.

1 Timothy 2:1-3

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.
